This stunning release on the renowned Indian label Underscore Records celebrates Evans’ collaborative work with Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani’s brilliant Carnatic music ensemble Sruthi Laya.

The beautiful improvisations and compositions on Cosmic Waves explore the ocean as a metaphor for cross-cultural dialogue, creating links through music for the deep expression of the human spirit.

‘My first encounter with the power of Carnatic music was in 1996 when I toured India as a member of the Australian Art Orchestra (AAO). We had the privilege of collaborating with South Indian mridangam maestro Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani. The spark lit by Guru Mani on that tour eventually led to this recording.’ Sandy Evans
