Led by outstanding bass player Lloyd Swanton, The catholics are an enduring project with over a decade at the forefront of Australian music. The band’s mixture of strong grooves and “user friendly” compositions has made it accessible for a wider audience without making any compromises. Since forming in 1990 the band has recorded five albums (one, Simple, which was nominated in JazzTimes Critics’ Picks as one of the top ten for 1995) made several tours of Australia, Canada and Europe and appeared at most of Australia’s leading venues and festivals.
