‘…an ensemble rich in power, subtlety, tonal colours and solo strength unmatched by any other group in the country.’
One of Australia’s foremost music ensembles, the Australian Art Orchestra’s repertoire crosses the divide between traditional orchestra composition and improvised jazz performance.
Since its inception in 1994, the Australian Art Orchestra under the direction of Paul Grabowsky, has developed a well-respected identity for their appreciation of the vitality of improvisation and has become a platform for many of the finest ‘spontaneous composers’ in Australia.
Sandy has been a member of the AAO since 1995 and has toured internationally with them and written several major works for the ensemble – Testimony and Feast And Lament For The Warrior Queen.
