Sandy will perform a six-hour improvisation from 2-8pm. Musicians of all levels, instruments, ages and styles are invited to join Sandy for twenty-minute spots to raise funds. Our goal is to raise $15,000 for the 2016 Award. JRMA was founded in 2005 to assist in the professional development of an outstanding young female jazz musician, and the Award is named in honour of the late jazz pianist, Jann Rutherford. It is fully funded by private donations, and in partnership with Melbourne International women’s Jazz Festival (MIWJG), Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA) and ABC Radio National. The Winner of the Award receives assistance with performances for her band, recording for ABC Radio National, and assistance with promotional material.
